Hormonal Imbalances and Who IT Helps
Whether you suffer from hormonal imbalance or not, you know someone who does. She may be your crabby bestie who flies off the handle 10 days out of every month. Or maybe she is your mother who gets irritable at the smallest things no matter what time of the month. Or maybe it’s you who suffers from breast tenderness, moodiness, fatigue, bloating and water retention. Some of you have family members who have breast cancer, others don’t. Some of you may be afraid your hormone imbalance puts you at a higher risk of developing those same cancers. Other women suffer from intolerable pain each and every month and they either suspect they have endometriosis, or they simply have dysmenorrhea (painful periods).
What Does DIM HELP in Functional Medicine?
DIM (Diindolyl-methane), is a compound found in the family of cruciferous vegetables including: cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, radishes, kohlrabi, mustard greens, arugula, kale and brussels sprouts. Eating these foods helps, but supplementing with DIM daily actually offers therapeutic effects. Functional medicine is often about lifestyle changes and dietary changes are amongst some of the easiest and most affordable ways to increase your health. DIM particularly helps with estrogen dominant women. It has been shown to reduce harmful estrogen metabolites and even potentially support health testosterone levels. Even more exciting, some studies have shown a reduction in hormone dependent cancers.
How DOES DIM WORK IN THE BODY?
As stated above, DIM helps detoxify the body of harmful excess estrogen. DIM acts as a powerful antioxidant in our overly toxic world of plastics, pesticides, water, air and soil pollution. DIM, when used with Functional medicine testing, can target the body in getting rid of 4-hydroxyestrone and 16a-hydroxyestone, the stronger estrogen byproducts that can cause harm and have been linked to increase cancer risk. We can all use a little help detoxifying daily, can’t we? Using scientifically backed tests to verify if DIM is appropriate for your hormone imbalance is the best way to assess if this supplement is right for you. Just ask us for a Functional Medicine Consultation and Testing. With decades of experience in natural and functional medicine, you found the place to get your health back.
